The Sonoma Coast is one of my favorite places to photograph on the California coast. The rugged coastline, hidden beaches and solitude make for an environment that has me coming back again and again. Bodega Head is a location on the outskirts of Bodega Bay with one of the most impressive views of the coast I have ever seen. On this particular evening I wasn't sure how things were going to pan out. The surf was pumping and the view was fantastic but everything was completely socked in. About an hour before sunset the clouds began to break right along the horizon. I had a feeling Mother Nature was about to put on a show and I wasn't mistaken. The sun slipped through a crack on the horizon taking the scene to epic proportions. There is no better feeling than being at the right place at the right time knowing you are witnessing something special.
