I conceived this image almost a year before it was taken. One of my favorite locations to photograph in Lake Tahoe is a little known destination named Bonsai Rock (named for the small Bonsai trees that grow out of it). I have taken many photographs at this location but I always felt like the images could be something more. I thought it would be incredible if I could create a night shot that included the rock, the cove and the Milky Way all in perfect harmony. Finally, all of the conditions aligned and I was able to capture this amazing scene in one magical frame. No fancy Photoshop tricks in this shot. One exposure was all it took. Enjoy!
